Nautilus Creature (Zbrush model)

Close Up View

side/ front view

This is a model of the Nautilus Creature. This character was inspired by the life cycle of Ammonoidea (what is ammonoidea?).
The model was sculpted in Zbrush and was exported to 3DsMax.

Here's the completed model of the Young Lung (용: Asian Dragon), before painting.

While working on the modeling of the character, I looked at different creatures like Polypterus (my favorite domestic fish), Cave Goby, and Deep Sea Chimera fish.
The overall body of the dragon was textured in amphibious&fishlike skins and tissues, while the notable parts like tail, neck, and portion of the back were featured in reptilian epidermis (like marine iguana and ancient depictions of sea serpents and dragons).

I had so much fun modeling this character, mostly because it was my first character design of a creature with backbones!

Completed version of the model coming soon :)

龍幼體 (Juvenile Dragon) - Concept Painting

Relative Comparison

Final Painting

This is a concept painting of a young aquatic dragon.
For this character, I was inspired by the aquatic creatures Oarfish and the Coelacanth. (What is an Oarfish? What is a Coelacanth?)
In fact, due to its ginormous size, vivid color, and long body, Oarfishes were once confused by sailors as a sea serpent or a dragon in ancient times.

I have started 3D modeling for this creature model (this will be my 2nd experimental creature design, after the Nautilus Beast). I am also planning on painting the adult version of this beast. Coming soon!
